Bought a sight pusher. Learned how to fit parts in my 1911’s. Today I started a little re blue project. I refinished the slide stop, thumb safety and grip safety on my Colt Commander 9mm. The slide stop is a Nighthawk and it was showing some wear. I fit the grip a few months ago and had to remove a little metal on the sides. I used the birchwood Casey reblue paste. I put 4 coats on it. Pretty pleased with the results.

Looks nice. If you really want to get into re-blueing without a lot of upfront costs and superior results, look into rust blueing.

Thanks it’s been a project for me. My dad gave me the gun at Christmas 2025. Added the ed brown Magwell(Stan Chens are impossible to find), Nighthawk short trigger, nighthawk sear and disconnect, slide stop and grip safety. Grips are Esmerelda Cocobolo. Sights are Trijicon.

Looks good. Gunsmithing is a dying trade. Not much money in it. Id like to look into as a side hobby as I get older. Make some side money doing something I already really enjoy. Plus it can be done in the AC and its an excuse to make another man room.

Looks great. That’s what my son is going to do. He is going to start at Murray State university in 18 months. Not crazy about him being that far away but he’s going to do what he’s always wanted to do.
