Had some really fantastic meals in Minneapolis a few years ago there on a world trip

The Butchers Tale - steakhouse that had great drinks and a really nice menu that delivered great food

Butcher and the Boar - awesome meat focused restaurant but I wouldn’t call it a steakhouse. Had a lot of interesting meats and cuts. Had a great meal here.

Demi - tasting menu type place and probably a top 3 meal of my life. It was absolutely incredible. All dining is at a U-shaped counter so you get to watch the kitchen staff prepare everything. It was incredible.

1) Owamni
2) Manny’s

Go to both of them. Different vibes but both can’t miss.

Target Field if the Twins are playing. We went to a game last September and it is a beautiful park and tickets at that time of year were like $6 apiece.

There have been some decent Minneapolis threads over the last couple years that you should search.

North Loop will be your culinary and cocktail bar neighborhood - Spoon and Stable, Porzana, Demi, Billy Susi, Butcher & The Boar, and Bar La Grassa are all great choices for a nicer meal. For something more casual, Freehouse makes an excellent bloody / brunch, Wrecktangle for pizza, Graze for drinking and checking out different vendors in a food hall. North Loop also has some breweries worth going to - Modist, Inbound, and Fulton are all great stops before Twins games. Speaking of which, Target Field is in North Loop and worth a stop if the Twins are in town. Beautiful park and easily accessible by foot or light rail.

Minneapolis has some of the best recreation opportunities for a bigger city in the country - Spend time walking around Lake of the Isles, kayaking, canoeing, biking the Greenway, etc.

Linden Hills is a neighborhood in South Minneapolis that is worth checking out - Lake Harriet is a beautiful walk and you can stop for food at Martina, Rosalia, or Tilia then grab some ice cream from Sebastian Joe's.

Northeast Minneapolis is fun, as well. Again, a decent number of good restaurants and quite a few breweries - Indeed, Brocken Clock, Pryes, HeadFlyer, and Bauhaus all worth stops.

If you go just east of Minnesota's campus, Surly has an incredible space and a walkway connecting you to O'Shaughnessy Distilling. The Market is right there, too, which is another food hall an industrial space with a great patio and bar.

Enjoy. Minneapolis is great. Grew up there and a decent amount since a lot of my college buddies are from there. Coincidentally, will be there for Twins/Brewers in May.

Go see Bill at the Monte Carlo. Cool bar and he's one of the best bartenders I've met.

I used to go up there a couple of times a year. One of my favorite places in the country. (Not in the winter obviously!)

But..

Sight Seeing:

Minnehaha Falls — Beautiful urban waterfall with trails and photo spots.

Lake Calhoun — is the old name — the official name today is Bde Maka Ska. Spell that. But great time to walk around it.

Stone Arch Bridge — It’s the old railroad bridge that crosses the Mississippi right by the Mill District.

Dining:

The Oceanaire nice seafood restaurant on the river.

I'm going to throw Kramarczuk's Sausage Co. out there as an excellent place for lunch. Great place if you're into eastern European food and sausages. I usually hit it up whenever I'm there.

You probably won’t go this far west, but if you got out to the suburbs and Minnetrista specifically, Buddy Boy Fine Barbeque is much better than it has any business being in a Twin Cities suburb.
