Took a blacktail in Brookings, OR in the 80's.

Haven't been back to OR since.

Before people fall for the rage bait, this seems to be an effort by a group (I imagine associated with PETA or PETA-adjacent groups) without any real support, done via petition (that only got 100k signatures).

An actual article and not Twitter slop

quote:

If IP28 looks familiar, it is because it represents the third time that animal rights advocates have sought to eliminate exemptions protecting hunters, fishermen, trappers, farmers and ranchers from criminal charges as animal abusers./

Here is their failed effort from 2024

You sound like one of those wise “they just want to get married what harm is there in that” folks from the 90s.

Exactly.

The left never retreats. They regroup and keep pushing, thrusting an infinite amount of cannon fodder before them, to achieve their ultimate ends. Their best weapon is the complacency of their opposition.

This is why the second amendment exists. Let the g men come and see what the farmers have for them. Me thinks not too many would want that job.

Here, let me fricking help you.
quote:

New ballot initiative in Oregon called ‘Initiative Petition 28, the PEACE Act, will make it illegal to hunt, fish or raise animals, even if it’s on your own land

If passed it will be ILLEGAL to

- Hunt or fish for food (even on your own property or for sustenance
- Raise and slaughter animals like chickens, rabbits, pigs, cows, etc., for meat on your own land or farm.
- Engage in common livestock practices (e.g., breeding via artificial insemination)
- Control pests by killing them (in many cases)

If passes it will lead to investigations and prosecutions of farmers and individuals raising animals for food, including small scale or backyard operations with rabbits and chickens

“They're going to raid all of our farmers and go after them because they're trying to quietly pass it and then make it where we all have to eat from the stores instead of farmer's markets and stuff.”

Are you implying 100k signatures isn't a lot to put it on the ballot?
