Curious to see how close this will be...

Based on the most recent mock drafts and big board rankings following the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, here is a full 7-round simulated draft for the New Orleans Saints.

This simulation accounts for the Saints' recent free-agency signings (including Travis Etienne and David Edwards) and the emergence of Tyler Shough as the franchise quarterback.

New Orleans Saints 2026 Simulated Draft

1 No. 8Carnell Tate WR Ohio State
2 No. 42 Malachi Lawrence EDGE UCF
3 No. 73 Treydan Stukes CB Arizona
4 No. 132 Jager BurtonI OL Kentucky
4 No. 136 Kaytron Allen RB Penn State
5 No. 150 DeMonte Capehart DT Clemson
5 No. 172 Ar’Maj Reed-Adams OG Texas A&M
6 No. 190 Tacario Davis CB

Key Simulation Logic & Analysis

Round 1: Carnell Tate, WR (Ohio State)
While defensive ends like Rueben Bain Jr. were considered, the simulation prioritizes giving Tyler Shough a premier "Z" receiver. Tate is a refined route runner with some of the best hands in the class. Pairing him with fellow Buckeye Chris Olave creates a nightmare for NFC South secondaries and provides insurance if Olave's contract situation remains unresolved.

Round 2: Malachi Lawrence, EDGE (UCF)
With Cameron Jordan nearing the end of his career and Chase Young on a short-term outlook, the Saints need "juice" off the edge. Lawrence is a "toolsy" pass rusher who impressed scouts at the Combine with his first-step explosion and "deep bag" of pass-rush moves.

Round 3: Treydan Stukes, CB (Arizona)
The Saints have a history of value-hunting at defensive back. Stukes is a high-IQ "STAR" defender capable of playing the slot. He fills a critical depth need following the departure of several veteran secondary members over the last two seasons.

Round 4 & 5: Building the Trenches
Jager Burton (Kentucky): A versatile interior lineman who can provide depth at both guard spots and center.

DeMonte Capehart (Clemson): At 313 lbs, Capehart is a massive interior presence who can eat blocks and allow the Saints' linebackers (like the newly signed Kaden Elliss) to play clean.

Late Round Value: Kaytron Allen (RB) & Tacario Davis (CB)
Kaytron Allen: Even with Travis Etienne and Alvin Kamara on the roster, the Saints add a "bruiser" back who excels in short-yardage and goal-line situations.

Tacario Davis: A 6-foot-4 corner who fits the physical profile the Saints have traditionally coveted. He is a developmental project who could eventually transition to safety.

Where do you see Tate being drafted?

15% chance: #6 Cleveland
35% chance: #9 Chiefs
50% chance: #11 Dolphins

I think he goes #11 to the Dolphins who just traded away their only WR.

Browns should go OL. Chiefs need a WR but may need Defense first, same as the Saints. Bengals are clearly excluded.

You'd need Cleveland to pick him > OL and Saints/ Chiefs > Downs/ Delane/ Bain.

If we end up with the last of Styles/ Downs then I'd be surprised if Chiefs don't go Delane and Bengals don't go Bain.

The Dolphins trade actually makes me more confident this is likely.

So you have him going top ten but you hate him to the Saints.

No. I have him going #11 with a chance that he goes earlier. I've already stated that Tate can have Top 10 value but fall due to defensive needs. Cleveland taking him #6 with Sheduer at QB and no OL would be retarded but its Cleveland so.

1. Mendoza
2. Reese
3. Mauigoa
4. Love
5. Bailey/ Styles
6. Fano/ Tate/ Freeling
7. Downs/ Styles
8. Downs/ Styles
9. Delane/ Tate/ Bain
10. Delane/ Bain
11. Tate

This mock draft is also based off the assets Teams acquired in free agency and trades this offseason. Some teams have big holes and it matches up to their draft picks quite obviously.

I just don't get the "lost me" stuff. There are few sure things in every draft and he is one of them and at the worst position room on the team. It's a high value position and a fifth year. Not my favorite pick but I won't complain either.

particularly where the positional value is good (WR’s making insane money now).

The other player I would take over him is Styles and I think he’ll be gone

Me too. But you’d have to feel pretty confident that Lawrence would still be there at 42. Tate at 8 still wouldn’t break my heart, for most of the reasons you guys have already mentioned.

We just upgraded (2) major offensive positions this offseason. We had a wash at LB and downgraded/ lost (2) additional starters.

Added 2 starters on offense and lost several on defense. That tells me that we are looking for defense and that taking a WR at #8 is terrible value for us. We already have a heavy WR camp and WR has some of the best value per pick in Rd 2-3.

The only way this makes sense is if we are going to trade Olave. You don't plan to extend Olave and draft a WR that high with other needs on defense.

I would definitely complain about the, pick but I wouldn't complain about his value at #8 if that makes sense.

Picking Tate means we missed out on Styles/ Downs. At that point its a "potential" battle vs Delane/ Bain/ Tate. Picking Delane/ Bain can do more for us as a whole if they are legit.

But you take is skewed. You talk of added O players like they were luxury picks so we need D picks now for value balance. We didn't have a oline. A starting guard or two is a necessity. A starting RB is a basic necessity. The WR room is the worst on the team. Worse than any room on the D by far and the best player may leave next year.

With the talent at the top of this draft, going one of the WRs seems like a reach. It really all depends how the draft plays out in the first 7 selections, but there will most likely be a more bluechip player available at 8 than Downs. Plus this is a WR heavy draft, so it will be better to grab a defensive star and go WR in round 2 or 3. 8 just seems high for the WRs in this draft. Plus with every mocker going WR to us, I really doubt that's our pick. I still think we go D

With that said, if they do indeed go WR then I will be on board; I trust what they are doing until they prove otherwise

He's not my top pic either. Hell I'm a trade down guy with the pics I want most likely gone. But there is not a lot to dislike with the great players that will be there at 8 no matter what happens 1-7 .

Except if the 50% chance you gave he goes higher it backfires.

Can someone show me some tape on Styles to get hyped like everyone else? I don't see the field play matching the combine results.
