Played my first ever round of golf today

Shot a 132. Put about 5 balls in the water and scored them legit as I know how. How’s that for a first ever round? Definitely enjoyed it and will play more going forward. The par 5’s are brutal when you’re chunking half your shots 40 yards! I played from the beginner tees but not from the ladies/junior tees

1st off congrats and welcome to the addiction....
I mean don't be a afraid or embarrassed to play the forward tee's ( gotta stop calling the the ladies tee's) I actually play the forward tees from time to time at my home course to change up my shot selection and to see how well I can score.. So don't be afraid.. especially on par 5's.. You could always play a mix of the forward and 1 tee box back..
But keep it up... It's a fun game to play..

Congrats on diving in (no pun intended)!
It's going to be the best and worst thing you've ever started. I played all the time when I was a teenager, and got pretty decent at it if I'm being honest, but then I quit for nearly 20 years and just got back into it over the past couple months.
I went from being steadily in the 80's around the time I quit, to being 110 my first time back at it recently, to shooting an 81 a few weeks later, and just shot a 96 on Sunday. Golf is an up and down game.
My son's comments on Sunday are a perfect example of the game of golf:
After Hole 1: "Dad, I suck at golf and I just don't see how I'm going to get better any time soon"
Mid-way down the fairway on Hole 2 after his best drive ever: "You know, I've been thinking... I think golf is going to end up being my sport instead of football"
"He's been thinking".... from hole 1 to midway down the fairway of hole 2
That part really cracked me up, but it's very indicative of the game of golf. You will have massive ups and massive downs back to back. You just gotta get out of your own head, have fun, relax, and enjoy the day. If you're too uptight or overthink it, you will mess up. HAVE FUN!

I's say thats pretty on par for a first round. Don't believe people who say they shot a 99 the first time they ever played, those people don't know how to score properly.
Welcome to the most infuriating aspect of the remainder of your life.

I think I shot about a 130 the first time I played.
Read Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons book, ignore pins and aim for safety, you’ll shave strokes pretty quick on the way to breaking 100.

Hey, don't put yourself down. You're not, uh... you're not... you're not good. You stink.
In all seriousness, pretty solid for a first rounder ever. Welcome to the most addicting game on earth.

Start smoking crack, meth, ice, pcp etc…. It would be cheaper in the long run lol.
Keep at it and it’s a sport you can play for a long time and never master.

I just spent over $100 today on 5 dozen recycled Pro V 1’s. I spent $1,200 in January on new irons, a few used clubs, and a bag, I’m about to become a member of a local country club, and my son needs a new bag already.
This shite is indeed expensive but for some reason, spending money on golf just doesn’t sting as much as it does when I spend it elsewhere!

Ain’t that the truth. Got a teenager on my policy at the moment and it’s high as giraffe arse… But still less than what I spend on golf monthly..
Don’t get me started on groceries. fricks sake I remember as a kid on Mondays after school I’d go grocery shopping with my mom and she’d buy groceries for the entire week and would maybe spend $100 bucks. frick, these days $100 hardly goes anywhere.
