Four pro-se citizens just defeated the Wisconsin Ethics Commission in court: Sandra Morris, Julie Seegers, James Spodiack and myself.
The judge rejected ETHICS' attempt to dismiss the case.
The mandamus claims survive. Sunlight wins.
Now the case moves forward into discovery. That means:
* depositions
* internal emails
* commissioner records
Us four citizens filed 52 ethics complaints against Wisconsin politicians for campaign finance violations of #Smurfing - which is using strawmen as donors.
The Wisconsin Ethics Commission handled everything in secret
— secret responses
— secret hearings
— secret decisions
Then refused to release the records.
Today the court rejected the state’s attempt to kill the case.
The lawsuit survives. Discovery begins.
Depositions coming.

Impressive to overcome the Ethics Commission trying to sweep it under the rug with the help of the state, but
