ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Delegates at the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s pre-primary convention showed broad support for Deb Haaland in the governor’s race.

After around 1,000 Democratic delegates cast their vote over the weekend at Inn of the Mountain Gods at Mescalero Apache Nation, the results showed Haaland with a commanding lead over Bregman.

Deb Haaland was head of the Department of Interior under Joe Biden. Her state is HEAVILY dependent upon oil & gas revenues, especially to keep K-12 schools from having to shut down, yet she is very anti-oil and gas, and has stated in the past she was opposed to drilling and fracking on public lands. The vast majority of prime Permian Basin acreage in New Mexico is on BLM and State of NM lands. So if she had her way, New Mexico public schools would go under.

Sam Bragman (father of former LSU star) is definitely more moderate. It will be interesting to see how the party primaries go for this race in June. I’m don’t think a Republican can win statewide in New Mexico right now.
