Went out. Well it was making grinding noises while drying. Took it apart and replaced the glides and wheels and still making the noise. I read wherr ya dont really need to spend the dough on a speed queen dryer.. anyone have any recs on replacements or a fix for the current SQ? Thanks

At least 15 years old. Commercial .. i’ll have to check the model. Repair guy at dtmccall said maybe cracked motor wheel or felt on housing. Says its fixable but cant get here for a week.

Whole point of buying a SQ is the ease of fixing it yourself and plenty of available parts when it goes out.

could it be the bearings on the motor?

Fix current dryer. Did you check the fan? Remove drum and see if noise persists. If no then something with a bearing or tensioner needs to be addressed.

Could be. I would remove the drum bypass the door switch and belt switch if equipped and run it. If noise then issue is motor or fan. Is the noise fast or a slow cadence? Drum noises are slow and motor/fan noises have a fast cadence.

The speed queen repair guy told us to steer clear of any major repairs on our washer that was bought in 17. He said The replacement parts are crap and will cost almost as much as new washer. I had sticker shock when saw the washer alone was price of the set in 17. shite nowadays is made to break

That guy is a moron. Alliance parts are really good and the parts that do break on a speed queen washer are easy to come by.
But yes I see people throw away washers over $10 belts, $30pumps and $30 door switches all the time.

That’s what I thought so had another come look. He said the exact same thing and gave me the part numbers. Speed queen no longer made those parts. So don’t think they were both morons, one of the guys is the speed queen repair guy.

What part specifically are we questioning?
I'm just curious? I'm the one who started the speed queen cult on this site over 10 years ago. I swear by then because of ease of repair. But I'm independent.
