After previously boasting $1.4 trillion in infrastructure commitments, OpenAI is now telling investors that it plans to spend $600 billion by 2030.

To put that into perspective, the company made just $13.1 billion in revenue for all of 2025

OpenAI is now targeting about $280 billion in revenue in 2030

OpenAI now only needs to 21X its revenue in 5 years, which seems optimistic. Immediate plan is to start incorporating ads into its products to drive up revenue.

What will the use case for AI be if its just steering you into making purchases? Where is the great leap forward we were promised? The mass layoffs are suppose to start this year because of universal AI adoption. Why are they moving to ads for revenue since Altman himself said that ads were a last resort mechanism?
