Them holding a briefing like this before a SOTU is rare according to Grok. It would seem to indicate something is imminent. I was wondering if they might launch their attack immediately following the address while the Democrats are trying to give their rebuttal.

If it's something he intends to disclose during his speech that is considered a matter of national security he is required by law to notify these people. If the information is classified.

I remember when there were read in press people back in the 80s.
The Reagan admin read them in and swore them to secrecy on a military operation
