For me I have 3 that I’m most excited for with one being technically not yet announced but the worst kept secret in gaming.

And the Witcher 3 expansion to bridge the narrative gap into 4
I think these are all as close to certain to be great-amazing as you can get. What are some things you’re looking forward to launching this year, maybe I haven’t seen them. Or what do you think about the 3 I listed?

I haven’t been following the calendar, so I’m sure there are others I’ll get excited about, but I’m currently eagerly awaiting Grime 2.

Never heard of it.
A quick google says it’s a Metroidvania? And that there is a demo? Is that demo only only on steam or is there a console version? I have a gaming pc but prefer my ps5 my fiancé enjoys watching it and that’s way easer in the living room than in my little study

Though I’m eagerly awaiting Grime 2 because I very much enjoyed Grime, so maybe see if that’s available somewhere for free/cheap as well.

It’s a “supposed” first person horror game that’s been heavily marketed on YouTube with trailers consisting of gameplay with an insanely high FPS rate.
Here’s the thing: no actual gameplay has ever been released. It’s literally nothing but pre-rendered CGI trailers. So more and more people now are doubting that it’s even an actual game.

Who is the dev team? I’m extremely skeptical these days of anything that looks like it is boundary pushing either in technology or an idea sense from anyone that’s not a known commodity
Like I’m certain GTA 6 will do both of those things because Rockstar. Some indie start up? No
I mean even now we are learning that a game id say did do this to a degree from a small team, Clair Obscure, had heavy investment and majority ownership by NetEase

Genuinely no clue. The demo doesn’t really have any story beats, so it’s impossible to tell if there will be references that matter. With that said, if you run out of time, you could always watch a YouTube recap of the first game.

I agree that it’s good to assess what games are actually “good”. And to be honest, there probably are some games this year that fit the definition, mainly RE9 and GTA 6. But the glory days of video games being a niche industry for passionate developers who wanted to be pioneers in video games development are long gone.

I feel like a weird outcast because I don’t care about GTA6. I’m sure the game will be extremely good, push the boundaries of technology, etc I just don’t really care about GTA. I don’t play it and I don’t think it’s either good nor bad.
