Travel fees are out of control (when going to Mexico)

Passenger Civil Aviation Security Service Fee ::: $11.20
Mexico Tourism Tax ::: $55.46
Mexico Immigration Fee DSM ::: $13.12
Mexico Departure Tax ::: $73.37
U.S. Immigration User Fee ::: $7.00
U.S. Customs User Fee ::: $7.39
U.S. APHIS User Fee ::: $3.84

Houston to Cabo in June TOTAL FEES: $171.38 ..for 1 person.

We are using points for the tickets.... but owe $685 in travel/tourism fees for a family of 4.

So neat your federal taxes that fund customs doesn’t include you actually using the services and they tax a few more dollars to use it because they can . What a world.

None of that seems abnormal OP. Your CC points are for the airline. The airlines and passengers still have to pay for the immigration, security, etc.

Most of your issues there are the $130 owed to Mexico for Tourism tax and departure tax.
