PGA Frisco Resort recommendations

I'm planning a trip with my son to go watch the Colonial tournament in Fort Worth and would like to stay at the PGA Frisco Resort and play a couple rounds. For those who have been, is it worth the money to play those courses, they are pretty expensive $360 for the east and $290 for the west. Is the Caddie Service on the east course a good experience, I've never played with a caddie before. Looks like an awesome place, what are some of the must do's while there?

I'll be interested to hear some responses as well. We are going there for our annual golf trip in May. I was kind of shocked at the prices. I figured this would be a cheaper year compared to Sand Valley in 24 and Bandon in 25. We are saving on no airfare at least.

Believe Caddie is required for East. Was planning our annual 16 person trip there 2 years ago, but the price all in was a little much for some. Place looks incredible

We had our President's cup trip there in October of last year. We only played the west course and it was $360 per day. The course is nice, I don't know if it was $360 nice but it was in great shape. Not a tough course, but those greens are a bitch. Very few straight putts. We also stayed at the Omni resort. Everything there is first class but you are going to pay for that as well. Nothing is inexpensive there.

I think it's overpriced but a cool facility. If you're going to Colonial realize they are a an hour apart with no traffic. I'm guessing it's 50 or 60 miles, Frisco is way north of Dallas and Colonial is just south of downtown Ft. Worth.

Did the same thing last year combo’ing Colonial and PGA Frisco. I got my round at East for free but really not sure i’d pay the greens fee otherwise. It ends up being like a 5 1/2 round regardless just because of the layout/everyone walking and nobody enforcing extra slow play. Fun experience but having played it already and knowing everything I’d likely play elsewhere for that price.

Par 3 course with lights and a bar are perfect for a degenerate group of golfers

quote:I'd agree with this. Not lot of trees but some nice elevation changes especially for north Texas. Fairways are wide. I think I only missed one during my only time playing. It has 6 tee boxes so you should be able to find one that fits your game. Staff was very nice.

The par three has lights so you can play it at night. It is more of a pitch and putt then a typical par three. I think the longest hole is 100 yards.

I don't know how some of these courses demand such a huge green fee.
It's really unbelievable. We thought about playing the Oaks in San Antonio until they told us the green fee.
I have played several courses that required you take a forecaddy and it was a nice experience.
I remember playing Kapula Plantation twice years ago for $90.00, now I hear it's $450.00, it a great course, but not $300.00 better.
