Kinda a bit late but every org needs to be audited. Do the COA and BREC and libraries.
ETA: he needs to get this squared or he may pick up some accountability and consequences of the SWB admin.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards is requesting an audit of city-parish finances following several recent indictments, including one involving a current city leader. Edwards announced Thursday that he met with the legislative auditor on Tuesday to request the audit. The move comes after several people were indicted in recent weeks, including current Metro Councilman Cleve Dunn. Dunn is accused of bribery and public contract fraud in connection with dealings with the Capitol Area Transit System (CATS). Edwards said the audit will focus on several areas of the city-parish including the handling of federal grants, contracts and invoices. During the news conference, Edwards said the audit is about transparency and gaining people’s trust in local government again. “There’s a difference between making a mistake and committing a crime,” Edwards said. “We can fix a mistake.”

Quit black-pilling every piece of good news. It contributes to the narrative that increases the chance that it’ll come true. A self-fulfilling prophecy.
Be lionhearted and EXPECT (!) , nay DEMAND (!), good and corruption-free government. It’s the only way to slowly rebuild a high trust society.

Fantastic move.
This needs to be done in every single parish. All of them.
Calcasieu has many just wasted expenses month to month, primarily with small business in the community that have been around a long time but are providing products the parish no longer needs. (Ex. Paper, envelopes) There’s some frickery in payroll as well. I assumed men, black or white, doing the same job and operating the same machinery would be paid close to the same. If someone looks they will notice this is not the case in a couple departments in Calcasieu.
There’s also some managers that look to be in collusion with their employees to use PTO/Sick in a manner that is not allowable in order to keep their rollover totals at the max.
This is why I can’t work for the government.
Jefferson Davis has issues as well. I went 2 months ago and I dont think they have reconciled their cash accounts since June when the Controller/Accounting Manager left. Seven months of unreconciled cash. Can you imagine? There are 17-20 cash accounts (fund). How can you even be running the parish without this done each month?
Pathetic.

The biggest problem for the State AGs office is there are too many rabbit holes.
It’s like the entire C/P government ran off with all the government funds like a flash mob robbery.

All 64 parishes are, by law, audited. The problem is the procedures required are really only set up to detect material misstatements. The state laws really need to be changed to require certain additional agreed upon procedures. My wife and brother used to work on audits in south Louisiana parishes and the amount of crap that does not get included in the reports because they don't meet a materiality threshold is mind numbing.

Agreed. They need to add depth to their audits.
I’ve been audited on both sides and it’s not the same haha.
