As CJJ and the Tigers begin the 2026 season in search of #9, here's a lighthearted read.
Eight is NOT Enough...
P.S. This is not an effort for clicks, links, etc. Totally free, from an LSU fan. Hope you enjoy it.

Jay Johnson shouldn’t retire until he has beaten the GOAT and brings home 6 titles.

I don’t know, at this rate he’d only be 56. Id imagine he’ll have a decade more in him at least.

I’d rather he stay until he wins 7 titles and officially passes USC.

He is 47. While I don't think a national title every other year is a reasonable expectation, with the current state of college baseball and this program, it would be very reasonable to expect 2-3 CWS appearances and one national title every 5 years.
He has basically done this already in his 10 yrs at Arizona and LSU. If he continues on this track, it would bring him up to 6 titles by age 67. Assuming the sport remains somewhat regional, and parity doesn't become a thing, this is very doable for this coach and this program.

I think he turns 49 this spring.

He would need one more for the team overall lead. Let's go with 7.
