Christians: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love“

I’m curious what the feedback will be here with genuine Christians that consider themselves Conservative politically.
When we see this, do we celebrate the greatest message of Jesus is being broadcast to the world or are we angry? Or are we disappointed that love has been “hijacked” by progressives? Are we mad it’s being used against its intended purposes, so we reject the message completely?… I’m guessing this is the main sticking point for most.
It’s sad to see a quote like this cause such divisive emotions, especially by Christians that are conservatives… is this sustainable? Anyone else wake up feeling a little convicted by their own initial reaction or the reaction from other people you respect as Christ followers?

Christian love involves calling people to repentance. Anyone preaching "love" without repentance is not preaching Christ.

True Christians were watching Kid Rock perform last night.
It doesn’t matter if the progressives try to hijack our message or not, if you have faith in God and Jesus you can see past their lies and evil deception.

Oh was this during the halftime show?
I assumed it was more of those "He Gets Us" commercials that aren't Christian at all but proclaim to be.

Curious as to where that comes from. Sounds great and will be upvoted because it’s a harsh response to the quote, but genuinely curious as to where that is stated?

For Roger Goodell and his ilk, “hate” = white conservatives, “love” = everybody else.

So you’d fall into the category that feels the message of “love” in general has been hijacked… are you ok with this? Again, the central message of Jesus (most important of all the commandments) is no longer associated with the people that want to bring forth Jesus’ message, but rather associate love with progressives… again I ask, as a Christian, is this sustainable?

That message is gaslighting when the left uses it.

Where it is stated that Christian love involves calling people to repentance? It's Jesus' entire message throughout the Bible. You'd have to not read it to believe otherwise.
Easiest example everyone seems to know: the story of the woman at the well. "Go and sin no more."

It’s also wrong. There’s lots of things more powerful than “hate” - discipline, forgiveness, stoicism.
In fact, I’ve always considered “hate” to be a sign of weakness. The American Left being the prime example.

Not progressives. Satan. Progressives are just the tool being used to pervert the message.

I 1000% agree with you, but is this ok? How do we celebrate Jesus’ core message without throwing the baby out with the bath water?
Posted on 2/9/26 at 7:14 am to CatahoulaCur
Jesus (= Love) was 50/50 Truth and Grace. Tough love hurts but it is still love, and I would argue that it's needed now more than ever.

This does not give you license to love evil.
Don't conflate a person's soul with the demons that are trying to possess it.

Jesus' core message is repentance. God loves you, but that won't do much for you if you don't accept Him and turn from your sin.
Just stating "God is love" without discussing repentance is a perversion.

I think religion is great for most but the western evangelical Christian message of open the door for me so I can save you from what I’ll do you if you don’t, is honestly bizarre. I know I’m not the most virtuous person in the world but if I’m more forgiving than this kind of Jesus you say you believe in, then I don’t want any part of it. No wonder these loons are taking your message from you.

Using your example, would Jesus have not continued to love her if she decided to”no thanks”.
Does love extend only to those that think like us, act like us, and pursue Christ like us?
I agree that love should move you towards repentance, but those two should not be tied to one another. Only God can move people towards repentance… our job is to love, correct?

Forgiveness requires repentance. If you never intend to change, there's nothing to be forgiven.

This is an empty platitude. I’ve never heard a good Christian repeat this phrase because it means nothing.

Sure, but he would have continued to tell her to repent.

No, but Christ's love involves repentance.

You're perverting what I'm saying, and also the entire Gospel. If you are loving someone the way Christ loves them, you are calling them to repent.
