At least two times in this first half on the road I could hear LSU chants for women’s basketball. If the men’s team got rolling it would be even bigger support. Get the right coach and put the money into the roster please

It's true. Foolish as we are, get the right guy in there and we'll line up behind him. Hell, like 5-6 years ago PMAC was full of grown-arse men and women wearing "WADE BRIGADE" t-shirts and revolutionary war general hats.

Of course they will. I saw LSU basketball final four team during 80-81 season in front of a sold out PMAC every night. That year there was a huge crowd in the Superdome for the sweet sixteen and elite eight. A few years later they drew 54,000 in a game played at the Superdome.
Look at women’s basketball. They were lucky to draw crowds of 500 people when Nikki Fargas was coach. Kim Mulkey takes over and wins a championship then the PMAC is packed.
LSU wins a national title in Gymnastics and they draw very large crowds today. 20 years ago they drew no one.
What was LSU baseball before Skip Bertman. No one went to the games. You were lucky to have 100 people at the games. Bertman takes over, the national titles come and the place is now packed.
Bottom line is LSU supports winners/ national champions! Anybody that says any different is full of sh#t!
LSU basketball will draw very good crowds if you win consistently and win championships.

There is the dumb misconception that LSU is a "football" school, or a "baseball" school, or a (insert sport here) school.
The reality is LSU, like every other school, is a "whatever is winning" school.
NO ONE cared about baseball...until the program starting winning. In the early 90's it was difficult to GIVE football tickets away. Conversely, in the mid/late 80's 60K were piling into the Superdome to watch LSU basketball (if you've ever seen a basketball game in the Super Dome, or any football stadium, you know is a horrible vantage point to watch a basketball game.) 10 years ago WBB was mostly an afterthought. Now, with 5 years of a HOF coach, a national championship, and perennial top 10 ranking, it's appointment viewing. Hell, so is gymnastics
