Hardly anyone associates the song Red Red Wine with Neil Diamond. Everyone remembers the UB40 reggae version instead.

that's a Joe Rogan joke if you didn't get it. He had to play it for every guest for about a 3 month span of shows

Meredith Willson's widow once claimed his estate made more money from this one cover every year than all the various productions of The Music Man combined

I’ll add another one -

Tom Paxton’s folk version is more popular but I really like the psychedelic version done by The Move.

I imagine this is the version most folks know... more so than the Everly Brothers..

My favorite is definitely Gram and Emmylou's though..

Thanks, I was confused. I googled Tom Paxton to make sure I spelled his name correctly and AI incorrectly stated DP and PW wrote it. That was news to me and I found it interesting so included it in my post. Another example of why you can’t always believe AI. Tom Paxton wrote it per wikipedia, which can be just as inaccurate.

Cyndi flipped the gender POV on this one and made it a pop song... and a female anthem in the 80s..

Robert Hazard's was from the male POV and had more of a rock/guitar edge...
