If only there was some kinda rule where if you caught a ball while going to the ground the play wasnt dead as soon as your knee hits the ground and you have to maintain possession through going to the ground to complete the catch.
Of course no such rule exists....

Cooks was going down when he caught it. Adams was standing and was tackled and wasn't going down as he caught the ball. It isn't nearly as difficult to understand as you wanna make it.
Here is Cooks laying out to make the catch, he isn't catching the ball and then trying to run.
Adams was catching the ball and standing and then got tackled down.
going down wasn't part of him catching the ball as it was with Cooks. I don't know how to explain it to you if you can't understand that....

My honest opinion is the rule is a fricking joke when both players get 2 feet down plus a knee and 1 is a catch and one is not. Cooks survived the ground, he didn’t survive a player ripping it out after absolutely down by nfl rules.
