Question for those of you who have large propane tanks at home:

On your bill, what does it say for sales tax?

I just got a bill for this quarter's propane fill up, and the tax was 9.95%.

I looked back, and on old bills it was about 3.5% tax.

After googling it, it looks like there is supposed to be 0% state tax for residential propane sales. I'll be contacting my supplier soon, but wanted to see what others were receiving.

Not trying to derail, but curious to know. how big is your tank and how much propane do you use per quarter?

You are correct. Sales tax on propane for residential use is 0%.
9.95% looks like a local and state tax rate combined.
Does the invoice notate which line item is being taxed? Is there a tank rental or delivery fee being taxed? Since propane is exempt, the delivery of the propane should also be exempt.
