Court documents state that Guzman’s arrest in DeKalb County came after she was accused of doxing an Immigration and Customs Enforcement employee working in the Kilpatrick/Albertville area by revealing their name on Facebook and “telling people to blast HER.”
In the course of that investigation, according to documents, Guzman’s phone provided additional evidence of involvement with human smuggling, and “smuggling special interest migrants to include Chinese Nationals.”
The federal charge stems from “facilitating human smuggling ventures and moving monetary instruments.”
She has a hearing scheduled for Dec. 31.

An Albertville woman faces federal charges of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court of Northern Alabama.
Arely Guzman, 28, was arrested Nov. 19 by authorities in DeKalb County, accused of “doxing” an Immigration and Customs Enforcement employee while conducting enforcement operations in the greater Kilpatrick/Albertville area, or responsibility by revealing the employee’s personal information.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Homeland Security Investigations Eagle Pass, which operates as the principal investigative arm of ICE, learned of the arrest Dec. 20. Court documents state Guzman had been “identified by HSI Eagle Pass as a member of a criminal enterprise orchestrated by incarcerated inmate (identified in the document only as) Santoyo-Guzman, marked by her involvement in facilitating human smuggling loads and acting as a financial facilitator for the organization.
“Guzman has extensive ties to Santoyo-Guzman criminal enterprise through her relationship with Edgar Daniel Guzman, the cousin of Santoyo-Guzman, as well as her relationship with Alex Corona, a previously identified human smuggler for the Santoro-Guzman criminal enterprise. Guzman has been identified as being an active member in the criminal enterprise from 2024-present date and able to be charged with Title 8 United States Code 1324 – Conspiracy to Transport Illegal Aliens.
“Guzman has not only been identified via her involvement in facilitating human smuggling ventures and moving monetary instruments for the organization but also via her role and involvement in the conspiracy via a substantive smuggling event which resulted in egregious acts to include an aggravated shooting of an illegal alien, extortion, and hostage taking. The event occurred in Houston, Texas, in June of 2024,” court documents say.
The court documents also accuse Guzman of being involved in another act of violence to further Santoyo-Guzman’s criminal enterprise.
“On May 22, 2025, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Investigators responded to an incident of physical assault and encountered Arely Guzman and Alex Corona who had physically assaulted a male subject over monetary instruments that were not being returned to Guzman and Corona.
“To get the monetary instrument back, Guzman and Corona physically assaulted a male subject and threatened the family of the male. When encountered on scene, DCSO investigators found Guzman to be in possession of a firearm and narcotics and Corona to be in possession of a firearm, narcotics, and stolen property. After her arrest, Guzman was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance – Meth and Forbidden Persons to Possess Firearm, according to the federal court documents, as well as state court records.
“After her arrest, Guzman(’s) cellular device was lawfully seized and a search warrant executed on the device which revealed extensive involvement by Guzman and Corona in human smuggling ventures and communications with Santoyo-Guzman and other co-conspirators. Furthermore, Guzman was documented being involved with smuggling special interest migrants to include Chinese Nationals,” the federal complaint stated.
Guzman has a court hearing set for Dec. 31.
