Hard pass. I don’t need this to be on streaming so I can hear frick in front of their politic jabs at Trump. They need to kill this event with fire. It’s got the woke mind virus.

I would assume that those horrified by Warner Bros. being purchased by a streaming company will be equally disturbed by The Oscars moving from broadcast to a streamer?

These self indulgent Oscars are becoming a thing of the past for movie goers. Politics have made them unwatchable.

Hopefully this allows for more time for acceptance speeches and they go back to televising all the awards. They have been awarding some technical categories before the broadcast.

Interesting. So people won't be watching it on a completely different platform.

Do you think they'll hide the views and up/down votes? Lock the comments?

Aren't old boomers the only audience the Oscars have left? If this is an attempt to win younger viewers it won't work. Nobody new will watch and I'm not sure the blue hairs who were watching before will be able to figure out watching it on Youtube.

Seems like this is how awards show die these days. Beauty Pageants went through this same thing. When I was a kid they were on big networks in prime time and commanded hug audiences. Eventually they got shipped over to basic cable and were on CMT and TNT and shite. Now I think they are online steaming only

Given the sagging ratings I'm sure Youtube just made the biggest $ offer.

It's an attempt to get paid more money for the streaming rights.

And to get Jimmy Kimmel replaced by Mr. Beast or the AI love child of Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal.

Winners have to give their acceptance speech immediately after taking a bit of a hot wing, probably.

I can't wait to see Hollywood lose their shite when the category of "Best AI Generated" Actor in a Comedy and Drama is created...
