Buying house items from Mississippi to ship to LA

I am looking at doing a large renovation at my house. I was told that if you buy your appliances in Mississippi and have them shipped here to Louisiana you don’t have to pay sales tax. If this is true, couldn’t I do the same thing for all my flooring as well? Seems like I could save 10% pretty easily doing this, which would certainly add up. Is this too good to be true or as easy as it seems?

you can go and pick it up yourself and pay MS taxes but I'm pretty sure that generally the sales tax is based on delivery location, not store location.

I think there was some loophole that was closed in recent years. I bought some appliances from a place in Missouri that didn't charge sales tax for out of state purchases, and when I needed a new dishwasher a few years back I went to their website again and now they are charging sales tax. Buddy of mine told me about them. They had just moved and bought a new washer and dryer, fridge, and some other things. Paying the $100 delivery was cheaper than the taxes.

Some businesses offer tax free weekends on everything in the store. I know Stine has it.

My mother did this on her remodel. Drove a trailer to some store in MS, loaded up, came back to slidell. Net gain in the end

You would be liable for Consumer Use Tax of 9% collected on your LA tax return.
