Fox article on the Strategic Reserve

quote:

The Trump administration is in the midst of "gradually" refilling the nation's emergency reserve of oil after it was partially drained under the Biden administration.

Trump is probably waiting for us to have a sensible relationship with oil producing nations. Then he is going to fill it up much cheaper than he could today due to Joe Biden policy.

Are some of y’all starting to see it now? Progressives were sent here and put in power to ruin this nation.

There was a thread a few days ago with an article that was predicting a 30-40% slump in the price of a barrel is inbound for 2026.

Which means there will be layoffs all over Houston. Fort Bend County assessment district will still claim our houses increased 10% in value, because assessed value is not related to market value.

You’ve been conditioned for years to think that $2.49 a gallon is cheap.

One tanker?

You have no idea how much oil we consume?

First, the person you’re replying to about this was talking about the price per barrel of oil being pretty cheap right now, not gasoline.

Aside from that, the national average for gasoline in July 2008 was $4.06/gallon.

Now compare that vs now along with the average prices of beef, cars, homes, per household income from July 2008 to today.

$2.49/gallon, with vehicles getting more miles per gallon than 17 years ago, is pretty fricking cheap.

The SPR has been tits on a boar hog for 40 years. First, the types of crude for refineries which have direct access switched to heavy and very heavy sour due exponential rise of petroleum coke as a profit center. Second, it only contains two grades, light sweet and light sour. Third, for about a decade now, all of the pipelines have been reversed so only refineries on the Gulf Coast from Sweeney, TX to Chalmette, LA actually have access to receive it.

By treaty before the bill to create it was passed, Europe gets to be supplied by it.

Finally, it has WAYYY more at present than legislated requirements.

Which would be the perfect time to both fill the reserve and help save a few jobs.

My guess is heavy or very heavy crude which would be enough to supply Lyondell's Houston Refinery back before it close for 10 days. That was the only refinery configured for 100% Venezuelan crude. It even had a cogen unit built in the late 1980's to run on petcoke.

Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of Regular gas was $0.57 in 1975. That $0.57 is worth $3.43 today.

So at $2.49, that means gas today would be 27.5% less expensive than it was 50 years ago.

That's mere pennies compared to what his 3rd world hordes will cost us for decades to come.
