1st Billy Cannon

2nd Charles Alexander

3rd Dalton Hilliard

4th Kevin Faulk

The rest:
Steve Van Buren
Jimmy Taylor
Joseph Addai
Harvey Williams
Terry Robiskie
Domanick Davis
Brad Davis
Jesse Fatherree

For those that do not know Alexander played behind Terry Robiskie for 2 years, in every game LSU lead by more than 2 TD's his Jr. and Sr. year he was pulled out of the game most everytime. Mac never believed in running up the score, that night in 1977 when LSU beat Rice 77 to 0, Alexander was pulled very early and LSU went to passing as Rice could not stop the run.

Alexander could have had more than 1 400 yard game had he not been pulled in those routs.

Charles Alexander you will notice is 1 of only 2 consensus 2 time All Americans at running back, the other is not Kevin Faulk it is Billy Cannon.

Alexander is also running behind at the time, what was called a weak SEC line.

Of the backs on the above list Steve Van Buren is running behind the weakest line for his time at LSU.

The backs with the best lines Jospeh Addai, Harvey Williams, Kevin Faulk and Jesse Fatherree for thier time at LSU.

Doc Fenton would be on the list had he not played at E and QB, because he is a rb playing QB.

One more thing about Alexander the Great--he was the last player the LSU AD made some kind of effort toward promoting for the Heisman. I remember the "Alexander4Heisman" bumper stickers.

Cannon was before my time, so CA is the best RB I've seen play at LSU. Guy was 6'1", about 220 lb., and ran a sub 4.4 40, a great blend of speed & power that was practically unheard of for RBs back in the 70s. I've always thought he was just ahead of his time.
