Anyone else having issues with deer numbers due to blue tongue? Our area 7 marsh lease deer apparently took a big hit over the last few months. Talking to neighboring lease holders, they are experiencing the same lack of deer sightings. Additionally I've talked to several who have found dead deer along the bayous with no apparent cause of death.

Last year, it was easy to see 8 - 12 deer every hunt. We let at least 15 different spikes walk. This year they are gone. Us and the neighbors have agreed to not shoot any does until the population returns to a more normal level. Any idea how long it takes a deer population to return?

You think there is a blue tongue outbreak bad enough to kill off a significant part of the deer herd in your area? That would be a pretty big deal.

You need to contact LDWF if you really suspect blue tongue. That would be significant
