Who really cares? Lane is going to destroy the portal, long term tag along coaches demanding positions and their recruits are free to leave, it’s fine, January is when it matters anyways…..

The portal needs to supplement your roster. You can’t build your entire team on 1 or 2 year rentals. You have to develop guys through your HS classes.

If we can keep our class together, we ain’t going to have to worry about whole lot about our d-line, I know that lol. I’m going to be so pissed if we lose one of our big three because of infighting and Tulane dragging their feet.

Can’t build a culture with portal, need to build that culture with HS kids to develop, ask Coach Prime how rebuilding every yr with portal players and not recruiting HS players hard has worked out for him

You can get away with it for a year or so. If you’re successful, next years kids will come. As will the following. By the time the kids you’re grabbing now out of the portal graduate, the HS kids are field ready. For the positions where they’re not, you hit the portal again and look at the position coach.

Portal is greatly needed this year but Lane came here to make the portal less and less significant. The teams truly competing for the natty use the portal to fill in a few gaps, not build a roster.

While true, Kiffen should be fine with the portal + ole miss pulls. For the first year, at least. Besides, we already have a ton of talent that needs to be properly developed.
Also, it’s the early signing period, not the end of the road for the class.
