Everyone says Lane has to dump Ole Miss and get to recruiting for LSU right now because of the early signing period. I think you have to question this logic, and the answers are just common sense.

In general, my argument is that every coach has recruited to accomplish a long term goal. In the case of Ole Miss, Lane has put together a team that is competing for a championship. He's worked on it for 7 years. And now, because of 2 months of recruiting the man has to dump his team and start over? The man should be able to finish the season with his team, win or lose.

LK reinvented himself after the crap he put himself through and he's put in the work to get the "big job". As someone who has done that themselves, and still hasn't quite gotten there, I understand what Kiffen has on his mind. He's worked his entire career to have a chance for what could transpire in the next two months. The NCAA should establish guidelines that allow for transitions that aren't so complicated.

What do you mean theyre saying he has to dump Ole Miss?

He just does. It's not an emotional consideration, its that he has to start his new job.

Saban isn’t going to give any insight to Kiffin’s decision out of respect for Lane. He might still blame it on the schedule but he’s not going to leak anything.

Saban also said Ole Miss should allow Kiffin to coach through the playoffs if he leaves LSU, as did Kirk Herbstreit.

That's a quote from Gameday, which is the wisdom I suspected.

He actually did. I don't have a direct quote, but he basically said that LSU is a better situation for recruiting and resources. It was also said that it isn't about the money for Kiffin, it's about the resources available for the players. And, they made it a point to say that Kiffin was talking to Saban and Pete Carrol for advice.
So, lining all of that up: Kiffin's priority is to be where he can recruit the best talent and the main person that he is asking for advice just said that place is LSU.

Edit: So, I hopped off and jumped back on the site and Saban's quote is on the TD Home Page.
