without draining the pot? Fall brings leaves which brings sediment in the kettle pot. Been using a pool skimmer/net but am wondering if barley will dissolve the decaying matter more efficiently? Or should I just let the filter process it and increase the frequency of filter cleanings. TIA.

thought about that but also wanted to see what others do before I proceed. Also wanted some suggestions before I go to a store and get sold something that may/ may not work. Thanks for the suggestion.

There are no fish in the pot, so I can use chemicals if thats easier.

I had the same issue. Bought a Pondovac, which didn't work very well. Tried chemicals, didn't work. I had a good inch of muck on the bottom. I wound up draining the pond and as it drained I hosed the muck down. Used a sup pump the get the last few inches out. Alot of work but now is clear and ready for Koi.
