No more half-measures. I think the AD trade really hurt the future of the franchise. Rather than embracing a clean rebuild from scratch, the Pelicans adopted a half-measures approach of trying to rebuild without actually tearing it all down. That only resulted in a purgatory of mediocrity and dysfunction. If they’re going to get things right, they have to fully commit to tearing it all down and rebuild right this time.

That means get rid of everyone except for Fears and Queen. It’s about collecting as many assets as possible. That even means trading Murphy and Jones. They are the best trade chips. If you’re going to commit to this, you need the assets. The team is not going to compete for 3 years. Assets are much more valuable to building the team than what they give you on the court. Collect as many assets and picks as possible.

Hoard assets and draft well and develop players. No trading for star players until the time is right. You need to build through the draft.

Make a complete overhaul and rebuild of the medical staff a priority. Hire the absolute best biomechanics and training and medical staff possible. Poach from teams like the Spurs and Heat. Make it an absolute priority.

Hire people in the front office who are forward-thinking and on the cutting edge. People who understand the modern NBA and who embrace new ways of winning. No more old and tired retreads and stale hires. Hire people who completely understand what needs to be done to rebuild a team responsibly and methodically and s not going to rush the process.

I’m honestly tired of watching this organization on the treadmill of dysfunction. They need to fully go all in on a truly serious rebuild. A ruthless reset. It is the only way to build a contender.

One thing about Dumars is that it appears he can draft pretty well. It’s just everything else about running a team that is questionable. And who knows if he can build a modern NBA team or if he is just good at drafting individual players. It’s one thing to draft individual players and another to have a blueprint for how you want to build a team and how you envision that team playing basketball, and drafting players accordingly that fit that vision.

To be fair in a very limited time he identified two young talents who fit the current era.

I don't like the trade he made to obtain it, but no doubt your can see the potential.

The Poole trade was a lose/lose for everyone. I was hopeful, but looks like it won't be.

Now the question is how does he set this team up to either rebuild or to actually contend

I don’t think it’s possible to contend without a complete rebuild.

And like I said, I think Dumars is good at recognizing talent, so he may have value in the front office when it comes to personnel. But as for him running the whole show, I question his decision making.

Dumars made one of the worst trades in pelicans history and it’s not even close. Queens ceiling is not very high. This upcoming draft and we don’t have a first because of that stupid trade. I heard the team we traded with called us back 3 times to make sure we were serious. Ridiculous
