Is Ridley more of a RB or a FB?

All I know is that I really liked the way he ran against Tulane.

Yes, I know it's Tulane...but he ran hard and confident.

I hope we see more of him...

Hester v2.0

Here is my question: Why the absolute love fest for this guy? I'm not bashing him and I'm not saying he can't be a great running back. I'm just saying we've seen him run one series in the 4th quarter against a run down, dejected LaTech defense. It was a great series, but lets pull the reigns back on the Ridley heisman train is all I'm saying.

Ridley had 12 carries last year. Are you aware of a Heisman campaign nobody else has seen yet?

That's what I'm saying. I'm just saying he gets "mad love" from some people when I don't really think we can say how good he will actually be.
Comments like these just puzzle me is all:

And about Ridley??? I'm a huge fan of his and think he has more talent than any of the other backs (may be wrong) but we will see a repeat of this year's TB use if there are no injuries. If we have better QB play, we will be able to use the backs more. This year Scott was very good (after his ankle injury things were ok only), KW started poorly but was Scott's equal at the end of the year, Murphy showed little (I thought he would do much, much better) and Ridley had no chance to shine. They'll red-shirt Ford and Ridley will show his meddle on special teams (#2 in tackles in 08), but probably little else. Now 2010, it will be a different story...

Ridley if he actually gets some playing time...

re: Ridley

He is one helluva athlete and is the best RB on the team. He'll get his shot and impress .

re: Ridley

Ridely ought to be and, I think, will be our number 2 running back in the fall. RM falls to 3 back.

re: Good Article on Stevan Ridley

Miles should play the best players. Ridley should play more especially when Scott gets hurt which is 2 or 3 times per year.

hopefully red shirt and not get hurt in practice.
Holiday, Scott and Williams SR
Murphy JR
Ridley RB/FB SO

We have some depth at RB for '09 but next year's recruiting class will be very critical for the RB position. Plus, one or two of those recruits will be needed for PT.

Hopefully, losing Pratt and signing only one RB will not hurt us too bad the next couple of years. 2010 better be the year of the RB for LSU recruiting

Ridley has earned a chance at RB, Miles needs to let him carry the ball. Miles sometimes only let's one back take all the snaps.

damn, Suntiger brings the facts to back up his arguement

well somebody has to play FB next year. unless the freshman we signed is ready, Ridley will see more time at FB than RB.

Seriously, what is the basis for this opinion?

IMO, I think C. Scott's 3008 carries and 1174 yards and 18 touchdowns last year and K. Williams 229 carries and 24 receptions with 13 td's entitle them to time at RB.
What have Ridley's 12 attempts said to you that me and the coaches don't see???

I think Miles likes his pounders, but it has almost always been tailback by committee with him, save J. Addai's senior year.

Ridley has played well on special teams and is tough, could be the next Hester. He needs a chance.

Do you think he's better than Charles Scott???

He could be the next Barrington Edwards. I just don't think we've seen enough of him to say one way or the other. I don't think special teams play or one series gets you PT over a guy who was mentioned as a Heisman contestant last year.

If the rant wasn't confusing on any given day, then that would make me puzzled.

Ridley also had some nice carries against our first team D in spring game. He runs like a FB but he isn't built like it. Allen will get most of the reps there. Hell, I bet Scott lines up at FB more than Ridley.

The guy has shown glimpses of excellence in miniscule appearences, and you're dumbfounded by six posts on the rant predicting that he will be really good? How many posts have we seen predicting guys as future Heisman contenders that haven't even set foot on campus yet, let alone played in an actual game?

There are some people who get excited early about players that show promise. Stevan has shown a lot of promise in his brief appearances so some people are excited about his potential. How is that confusing?

I'm way more confused about how Perrilloux was going to win 4 Heismans before he even finished his high school career.

Also, Stevan is somewhat of a sleeper from a tiny school; people like to see those "wildcards" blow up and shock people.
