so you're saying Brent Key is out as a potential coaching hire, right?

I’d love for South Carolina to grab him but there’s zero chance he’s leaving his alma mater for another CFB job.

Yeah, he either lost the down count or thought King picked up the first down. Either way, it was stupid. But a dub is a dub.

if it was a premier coaching job, i could agree... but it's fricking Georgia Tech

there are many better jobs, that pay much more money, so once he does his whole "alma mater" thing, if there's another, better opportunity, i'm sure he'd take it, b/c that "alma mater" will fire his arse with the quickness if he starts fielding a losing program....

That program has the resources to succeed in the NIL era they just need the right coach and they have him. He’s more likely to be the next Falcons coach than coach at another college.

i do agree with this statement, but that goes to my point... once his whole nostalgic coaching his alma mater thing has run its course, in his opinion, he'll take a better, bigger, more lucrative job offer... whether that's another college or the NFL, dunno... but it will happen...

they don't have nearly the program, facilities, infrastructure, etc of bigger programs like LSU, Alabama, Texas, Ohio St, Georgia, etc... let's not be intellectually dishonest and say they do... having boosters/deep enough pockets to pay players going rate in the NIL era is one thing... having all the other boxes checked, along with consistently putting players in the NFL, is another... GA Tech is at least half a decade from being where these programs are today... and they'll improve even more in those 5 years, themselves, so they'll will almost certainly be behind these major programs for a long time

Pretty sure he bet millions on his own team losing and he was pissed they won. You could see it on his face in the post game interview on the field.

Some of you are living in the old era. Plenty of schools who didn’t use the bagman system have money. Sure, it will take time but we’ve already seen glimpses. GT has more 4 stars on their roster and recently bought their first 5 star. It took a 4 and 5 star loaded UGA roster 8 overtimes to beat a team with a smattering of 4’s. The margin is thin and the money will come.

We will give Key a raise in the 8 and 9 million range and then go about building and buying from the portal. Schools like Vandy and GT have plenty of money even without the massive 90,000 fan stadiums.

Key has been really good all season with clock mgmt. My buddy was on the sideline and basically they thought it was a first and wanted a review but yes it was terrible. But a win is a win.

ETA as far as Key goes, GT is going to extend him this offseason it is actively happening. I wish his recruiting was better but I do think he is probably our best option
