Test Vote on Revamped Spending Bill Expected This Evening Or Later. Bill Text Out Mid Afternoon

Fox is told that text on the updated bill to end the shutdown likely comes out between 2 and 4 pm et.

The bill ends the shutdown, funding the government until January 31. It funds Legislative Branch, Agriculture and Military Construction/VA for the entire fiscal year.

Fox is told a test vote needing 60 yeas would not come before 6 pm ET. But will likely happen tonight or later.

Do not underestimate the importance of this test vote. Once the Senate clears 60 yeas to break the filibuster, it is only a matter of time before they vote to re-open the government.

Republicans are confident they have a coalition of Democratic senators willing to break the filibuster to re-open the government. But Fox is told that coalition is fragile.

It appears there are only promises now to address Obamacare.

Technically the bill needs 60 three times (motion to proceed, substitute amendment and then to wrap all debate). But that could be expedited by a time agreement.

Running all of those parliamentary traps, by the book, would mean it would take until NEXT Saturday to pass the bill. But that won’t happen. The Senate could tee up a plan to pass the bill sometime Monday or Tuesday.

Then it’s onto the House. The House probably could not align with the Senate until Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest. It depends when the House gets the bill.

I think most of their flights home got cancelled; and maybe they are worried about air traffic controllers not manned to direct plane traffic.

They don't care about people. But they sure want to fly home safely. Next time they shouldn't take their paychecks...

"We had a fantastic economy under President Trump the past two quarters and now there are estimates that the economy and economic growth for this quarter could be cut by as much as half if the shutdown continues," Bessent added.

FYI, as I cruise the twitter matching, there is angst and outright meltdown from the usual idiots and progs.

They are fuming mad.

I don't know what's in the bill.

1) no extended subsidies for Obamacare. They'll use it against Republicans in midterms when we replay this exact scenario of rising cost.

2) after the Dems cave, they need to be brutalized in the media. Words like, caved in, gave up, against the base, increasing Obamacare, insurance company handouts . Demoralize them. They deserve it

Looks like it will undo SNAP work requirements.

"other critical nutrition programs as President Trump fights
in court during the government shutdown to cut off benefits for 42 million
Americans who rely on SNAP to feed their families. The bill also funds the multiyear SNAP contingency fund. "

Can Trump veto?

Nor sure but I think that is an EO separate from the funding of SNAP. I am upset at the amount of money for rural housing. they aren't giving houses away to the poor.

What a cave by the Dems. Lol. The leftists are raging right now.

Warnock and ossoff being threatened. Looks like a good thing for GOP senate seat in georgia

These idiots started with 1.5 trillion demands in their shutdown. They end up with nothing, regarding healthcare.

Complete fail.

Now, ram Obamacare down their throats for the next year. All day, everyday.
