President Donald Trump has pardoned the former Tennessee House speaker and a onetime aide of public corruption charges after the White House said the Biden administration Justice Department “significantly over-prosecuted” both for a minor issue.
Former Republican state Rep. Glen Casada was sentenced in September to three years in prison, and his former chief of staff, Cade Cothren, was also convicted and received a 2 1/2-year prison sentence. The case centered on their actions after both had been driven from their leadership roles and were accused of running a scheme to win taxpayer-funded mail business from lawmakers.

Not sure they "why" they were pardon, as Trump apparently does look into them before puts his signature on them. Glen Beck has spoken about it as he tried to help someone get a pardon during Trump1.
Though this term he may just being finding ways to push the Democrats bitch about his pardons.
But the over prosecutions the Biden admin did definitely needs to be corrected.

Trump appointed a black lady he pardoned to be the Pardon Czar. She reviews the cases and makes recommendations.
quote:
Alice Marie Johnson is the Black woman you're referring to. A 69-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, she was convicted in 1996 of a nonviolent drug offense (cocaine trafficking) and sentenced to life without parole as a first-time offender. She served over 21 years in federal prison before President Donald Trump commuted her sentence on June 6, 2018—after advocacy from Kim Kardashian West and Jared Kushner—and granted her a full pardon on August 28, 2020.In February 2025, during a Black History Month event at the White House, Trump appointed her as the nation's first "Pardon Czar" (or "pardon advisor"). In this role, she reviews and recommends clemency cases for commutations and pardons to the president, drawing on her personal experience with the justice system. She's already been involved in high-profile cases, like defending the pardons of the Chrisley family and the commutation of Larry Hoover's sentence. Johnson has described the position as a continuation of her post-release advocacy for prison reform through her organization, Taking Action for Good (formerly CAN-DO Foundation).

Sorry had to put this into grok to understand it:
Is this what you're meaning to say? I don't think Trump is willy-nilly pardoning people just to troll (though as a side effect this could be the case
). He has a very good reason for doing it. It's called justice. And if justice trolls the left, then I'm all for it. win/win.

Not sure why they were pardoned, since Trump supposedly reviews the cases himself before signing off on them. Glenn Beck has even talked about this—he once tried to help someone get a pardon during Trump’s first term.
This time around, Trump might be issuing pardons just to provoke criticism from Democrats.
However, the excessive prosecutions under the Biden administration definitely need to be addressed.

This investigation began under the Trump 1.0 DoJ.
I wonder if he will pardon the other half a dozen or so people involved in this scheme?
