you have got to be kidding me. lee don't call the plays. we pulled this same shite in the auby game the year before and the only difference is we had a 5th year senior throwing the ball. this year we had a freshman doing it and it didn't work. this year play calling cost us. if you remember he won the auby game and the troy game which we could have lost very easily and the only thing that was different was the play calls during the first half and the second half. so one man didn't cost us anything.we had problems on defense or have you forgot about that.

Sorry, but you should've put a - sign before the 97 yards. Lee rushed 11 times for -97 yards last season. I'm not making the correction to call Lee out, I'm a fan of the kid, but he didn't rush for 9 YPC last season.

yes Lee did lose games for LSU last year but it was not all his fault he was not ready to play and got put in anyway. he did not have to win games just not lose them and it was too much for
him I just hope he is strong enough mentally to overcome it JJ does not have to win games by himself either LSU has plenty of talent to do that just dont make mistakes it also looked to me that lee was scared to take a hit

most of the problem with the qb position last season was play calling . i keep hearing people saying crowton was limited because of the new qb and after watching the games i believed this at first and then after watching how he changed the play calling when we were getting beat and seeing how the qb played made me very doubtful of the comments about the inexperience qb's not being able to perform up to par. look at the games and see how obvious the play calling had changed between the first half and the second half and if you watched the gt game you noticed the play calling was more like the second half of the auby and troy games. in the gt game we played the whole game completely different from the rest of the season games. it was not lee's fault. it could have been flynn in that spot with that type of play calling and he wouldn't have done any better. those pick 6's whre designed plays called in by the sideline. i watched jj run the same play and he got picked off and the only reason it wasn't a pick6 was we tackled him on the 1 yard line .so don't blame lee for losing the games place it where it belongs on the person who's calling the plays.without lee it was very possible that we could have lost the auby and troy game but that was forgotten.

i really do believe he was held back by poor play calling.most of the pick 6's were not his fault.he made some bad decisions but he is a freshman.

If the coaches would have turned Lee loose, and he would have played all season. No telling what his passing stats would have been.
True. He could have thrown a few more interceptions for touchdowns. Maybe... 10?
You try to come off as Lee's biggest supporter, but you're just the opposite in effect. For his sake, shut up.

I am really shocked at you guys defending Lee in the manner that you are (removing all blame from the player and resting it squarely on the shoulders of one of the best OC's in the college game). As far as the "measurables" are concerned, Lee seems to have plenty of potential. He did not have the experience and wasn't supposed to face the calibur of defenses that we played this year. The pt he received last year and another spring may very well be all he needs to be a solid QB in the SEC. HOWEVER, lets call a spade a spade guys. The Auburn game, that so many of you reference as one of his great performances, was also the game that contained one of the boneheaded plays that I have ever seen at ANY level. That first half int was disgusting and would have unltimately cost us the game if they had not been a pathetic shell of a team they have been traditionally. I saw J Lee OFTEN miss "confidence building" passes consistently. I mean "BADLY misses backs in the flats" and "has trouble connecting with WR's on screens" is not exactly something you look for out of a slewfoot like J Lee. Lastly, I would agree with the poster who made mention of J Lee being afraid to take a hit. All those "Brett Favre" comparisons were mostly drawn by the fact that the dude rarely steps into throws in favor of falling back away from the rush. I think the "pick 6" stat is very overrated though. It is much more of an indictment on those offensive turned defensive players that gave poor effort and didnt give their all to make a tackle. All in all, I have not closed my personal opinion book on J Lee and welcome him getting a fair shot at competing for the QB. He just MUST show improvement.

Whew, how awful those wins look now being, Auburn was horrible and Troy is basically on par with La Tech. To see how standards have lowered at LSU. Hopefully, the same fans who are defending Lee's ineptitude showing this same fierce loyalty if JJ starts a little slow out of the gate.

Probem I have with JL is the lack of improvemet as season went along... however truth be told our team went backwards as well... in JL's defense kid was a freshman. Anyone of you dont believe he will improve is IMO a fuking IDIOT.
JJ on the other hand gets made out to be the best thing since sliced bread, after 2 GAMES.,, and to be truthful after 2 good halves of football. (ark and gtech 1st halves)
You can't say that playcalling limited JJ in the sencond halves of those games and not use same scenario with JL throughout the year.
Honestly im not a fan of the playcalling excuse regarlesss which qb it pertains to.
JJ can run. That is the biggest diff between the two qbs,,, From what ive seen JL has a better arm. It is nice to have a qb that can scramble however we recruit all these skilled athletes to get the ball in their hands, whether through the air or ground... I said the other day that players like RR, TT, BL, TH, ect would probably prefer to see JL come on just for the fact that his #1 priority is to THROW the ball to them,, not run.
I like both players, and id like to see both get in the game next season, a MF/RP situation could work out well for us.
JMHO.

J Marcus started out slow and probably represents an acceptable level of player development. To allow JL to go as far as he did IMO, is a unfortunate mistake by our coaching staff. Had JJ been utilized earlier in the season we would have had a better record

This thread should be stickied and used as an example when someone asks "what is a rantard?"
JL did not make 'typical freshman mistakes' - he set records at it ( ESPN 'guessed' 7 as the record for pick sixes in a career, which JL tied in one season ). The worse part is the stats don't describe how poor the play was. 16 INTs & 7 pick sixes don't tell you how he threw to an Auburn lineman after double clutching the ball, almost acknowledging that it was going to be picked off. 16 / 7 doesn't show you how he lined up on the first play of the UGA game, looked over at his WR, hiked the ball, and never turned his head once, leading to an easy read for the MLB and a pick six. 16 / 7 doesn't tell you how he only ever had one-two reads on passes and never looked off any defender. Typical freshman QB season? More like one of the worst.
JL's picks gave UGA 17 pts, costing us that game despite the defense's play or lack thereof. JL's picks cost us the Bama game, hands down. If LSU wins those two games, LSU faces Ole Miss & Arky with a chance to still win the SEC West instead of already being out of it completely. If you don't think those two games would have turned out differently with Bama & UGA wins then I've got some of that famous property to sell you.
All this said, I hope the kid improves. But there is no way in hell there is any argument for JL seeing the field again as long as JJ keeps performing and improving like he did. JJ is a playmaker. JL has been nothing but a playmaker for the other team. There is no discussion to be had here; last year speaks for itself.
