Schedule wise, to this point, the metrics say that OSU and Indiana are about even. Efficiency numbers point to IU with the edge by a couple pts.

Committee said they were going to value wins against big opponents.

OSUs biggest win is a Texas team that has not lived up to their early season hype, although they may have figured it out. If they win their remaining 3 games, then this should be a really solid win for OSU.

Indiana’s biggest win is the only loss for an Oregon team that’s currently ranked 6 and really has no reason to not be a playoff team. IN Oregon.

Only one common in Illinois.
OSU won 34-16
IU won 63-10

We all know it should be Alabama.

Can't wait until whichever one loses the B1G Championship game beats the other in the playoffs.

Didn’t this happen to the saints one year? They beat a division opponent twice in season then lost to them in the wild card?

Sagarin and SP+

Not that this matters but they are also the betting favorite in Vegas. Indiana is first in a couple things but I see them a lot like those OU teams who would destroy every team they could for style points. OSU isn't playing for style points at all really

Isn’t the SP+ more of a predictor?

I’m going off if what’s happened so far on the field.

So style points on the field matter to you. Indiana beating Ill. by 50 at home and not letting up is more important to you than OSU winning by 3 possessions on the road in a game they coasted. That's fine but that is what you're saying correct?

A predictor of who would beat who on a neutral field.

Ok. Take that common opponent out of it altogether. Even though the committee does look at “style points”

Indiana still has the better “quality win” which the committee said it was going to put more stock into this season.

Thanks

Depends on what their favorite metrics are week-to-week.

Will it be record, quality of wins, etc.

The only thing that's certain is that the important metrics will change week-to week. It's more telling to me where the teams are ranked outside the top 4, and that they are ranked on the same metrics. Oregon hasn't beaten a single top 25 team. Will they be ranked ahead of Ole Miss? My prediction is that they will.

If we were going by a combination of eye test + resume, it should probably be:

1. Indiana
2. Ohio State
3. Texas A&M
4. Alabama
5. Georgia
6. Ole Miss
7. BYU
8. Texas Tech
9. Virginia
10. Louisville
11. Oregon
12. Texas

Ohio State.
Indiana went into Columbus undefeated last year and got boat raced.
I'm guessing it will happen again this year in the Big10 title game.
At some point the talent gap/depth is too much to overcome.
Ohio State beat Texas who was #1 at the time.
Texas only has 1 loss in the SEC.
What is Indiana's best OOC win ?

I’m not sure who the best team is right now. I’m using resumes up to this point to try and determine who should be ranked #1 for the initial rankings.

I’m talking about rankings for the current season, not previous season. Figured that was obvious.

Does Oregon suffer from that same lack of talent/depth?

I don’t really care. It will work itself out regardless.

Indiana had a joke of an OOC schedule. So I’m just curious if the committee uses that for a justification if they end up putting Ohio State as #1.
