I don't think anyone here has heard the Governor speak on this topic.

He did double digit public interviews today. Most people have heard him.

If so, then they shut up about the governor hiring the next HC because he made that very clear.

Landry may have committed political suicide here.

How so?

As a taxpayer, aren't you glad he wants to make sure that taxpayers ARE NOT having to be responsible for a buyout?

He’s lied his arse off about everything else. What would you believe that part?

Yes I agree on that front. But people vote on emotion not logic. If this hiring sequence gets botched, him being this vocal and involved will have people blaming him. People don’t care about the money. They care about winning. And there’s no way to spin this whole ordeal in a positive light at this point

What in the name of your public school kindergarten diploma do you not understand that taxpayer dollars are not involved in the buyout?

Do you understand that every addition to tiger stadium is private and not physically attached to the original stadium

Bruh... you can't name one honest politician..... period.

But he seemed very adamant about those topics and I have no reason not to believe him.

Maybe you should take the contract and carry your arse to his office and explain it.

For frick’s sake.

Guess I’ll say it again. The only way taxpayers are on the hook for a coaching buyout is if the athletic department becomes insolvent. In which case, taxpayers are on the hook for literally every long-term contract with the athletic department. In addition to any bonds.

If you’re really worried about the potential for the entire athletic department to go under, you should be pushing to make them a completely separate/independent entity from the university. I think that’s kind of stupid, but it’s the solution that removes all state obligations if that’s what you’re looking for.
