Questions about Star Trek Strange New Worlds. Obvious spoilers.

So me and the wife started watching this about a month ago and finished the most recent season a few days ago. We liked it overall. Granted it had some eye roll moments in it but not too bad. It was a nice touch that one of the lesbians on the show is hot with a great rack 
so to my questions. I’ve seen all the main ST shows. Original Trek, Enterprise, Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager. Have the Gorn ever been mentioned in any of them? If not this makes me think the end game of the series is to completely wipe out the species.
In the season 3 finale I think I got distracted or something. What type of entity brought the young black guy back to life? I think I remember something about something stealing his template out of the transporter pattern buffer. Also did Pike’s woman become a Q or something? How she became God like is a little fuzzy also. I might have been drinking
One last comment. Pike’s fricking hair That shite could withstand a phaser blast.

They might have. That was the series I watched kind of like background noise so I would remember the least about it.

If I remember the episode. They had chameleon like abilities that made them invisible. I saw it on original release so I don't remember much about it but I know they had them in Enterprise.

There's some fan speculation that the entity is of the same race that was taking over people as hosts in the original series' Jack the Ripper episode.

Off topic but I read recently that the last 2 seasons are going to have less fluff episodes and return to more serious sci-fi. Hopefully that turns out to be true, I don't mind a little but last season was a bit much though I think the writers strike was a factor in that

Ok so we’ve established that they existed in shows that take place before STSNW. Any mention in Next Gen?

The original short story, "Arena", on which that episode was based, was a better story with a more realistic and better ending
similar to star trek, humans and an alien species are at war. Knowing that if the war was allowed to continue, the victorious race would not have enough strength left to endure, an all-powerful entity plucks a single human and a single alien off the final battlefield, and puts them into a battle arena to fight to the death, with the loser's race to be eliminated entirely
In a battle of wits and strength, the human Wins, killing the alien and ensuring the continuance of the human race
in the star trek version, Kirk wins, but refuses to kill the alien, then lectures the all-powerful entity about compassion, and humans are allowed to live. I do not remember what happened to his opponent, but I am pretty sure they were not eliminated. It was cheesy
