Our rushing offense is 123rd in the nation

How can any of you actually in the cornbread hell want Frank Wilson as our next head coach.
Not only was he an unsuccessful head coach. The run game has been the biggest part of the offensive problem since he got back here. Maybe not all his fault, but maybe is y’all.
We also just put the damn running game co-ordinator (Atkins) in charge of the offense.
Let’s just be realistic about this and get a coach that will take the program back to where it belongs and where we want it to be!
Geaux Tigers!

Realistic is that our RBs are averaging 4.9yds/car on the season.
Realistic is that we average 28.1 rush attempts per game (including sacks) and that ranks #134 of 136 in the country.
The run game issues are a play calling issue, not a RB issue.

This is just as dumb a take as wanting Frank as HC.
Frank has nothing to do with the play calling or Oline coaching. Frank recruits and coaches the RBs.
Being 123rd in rushing is a product of bad play calling and a bad oline. Neither of which are Frank's fault.

1. The lack of running game is due largely in part to the fact that we are averaging the 3rd least rushing attempts per game. That is not at all Frank Wilson's fault. Sloan and Kelly promised they would
2. We have a not fully healthy sophomore, a converted QB, and a true freshman as our only guys at the position, and yet we've seen all 3 of those guys have very bright moments.
3. Frank has nothing to do with the fact that the OL has been god awful.
4. The only way Frank even sniffs the full time gig is if he goes 4-0, which is a tremendously tall task. Even if he pulls it off, I'd still expect us to go get someone else. The people wanting Frank as HC after 1 press conference are most likely aware of this, too.

With the Hankton brothers in charge now, LSU should look like Fournette and Guice in the backfield.

I don’t think you have to worry about LSU promoting Wilson to HC. They didn’t go through all of this mid season just to promote a position coach on the staff. The people in charge at LSU knows they need to make the absolute right splash hire that has the ability to maintain a consistent championship caliber program. I think and hope Frank does stay on the staff though.

I didn’t say it was all his fault, it’s obviously a system issue, but the guy has one presser and here comes the band wagon.
For the record, I like Frank, he’s a great recruiter and knows Louisiana! He did a good job in the press conference.
He is in NO way head coach material at LSU.
Geaux Tigers!

I guarantee you that we will be better at running the ball now that BK/Sloan are gone.
Frank is in charge of the running backs & it’s not like people were saying that Caden Durham & Harlem Berry are bad running backs

We will see. I truly hope you are right man.

We aren't going to blame Frank on the running game first off.

We also have a QB that averages negative rushing yards per game !

I made you have 4 downvotes, but for you to have 10 upvotes to 3 downvotes shows just how ignorant LSU fans are of how football works. The most that Frank gets to do is swap out RBs, and even then Kelly gets the final call if he wants somebody in on a particular play.
He's not calling plays, he's not coming up with the running scheme, he's not the OL coach, nor is he the QB who doesn't know how to read a friggin RPO.
FSU fans had their problems with Atkins, but that was more based on the OL. He never called the plays at FSU. Crazy part is though, his OLs in 2023 and 2024 broke school records for rushing and had a couple All Americans. They also ran for 200+ yards in 18 of 34 games, including a school record 7 straight 200+ yard rushing games.
Runnings backs when Denbrock was here averaged 5.4 and 5.3 ypc. Caden Durham averaged 5.4 ypc last year as a true freshman. Harlem Berry is currently averaging 4.9 ypc (Durham 4.8), and they could legit both be over 5 a carry when a HC and OC that actually cares about running the ball, will try to run the ball.
In truth you just don't want Frank to be the HC even if he wins out.Yall are the same people that sucked Ed O's dick for being horrendous at Ole Miss, and only winning against the weak and mediocre teams during his interim stint. The man had 8 interim games (went 6-2), and only TWO of those wins came against teams with winning records. A 7-6 team and an 8-5 team.
Anyway, HC stuff aside, i expect LSU to turn into more of a run first team. They are going to protect Nuss, which i wish they just put MVB in, but it is what it is.

Realistic is that you never really read my OP. You just fricking reacted!
I NEVER said he was a bad position coach, see my follow up post. Just said he has no business being a head coach, given his track record as a head coach and his part in the abysmal running game we have had with this team since he has come back to LSU.
We can talk YPC, play calling, systematic coaching, whatever. EVERYONE on the offensive side of the ball is culpable for what we have witnessed over the last two seasons, EVERYONE!
This is FACT!
