City PRk Golf Carts

Played City Park this morning. Carts were dirty with broken pencils in the holders. Asked one of the employees who told me the pressure washer was broken and they can’t get a replacement from BREC. Asked about the broken pencils and learned the pencils that BREC bought to save money apparently snap with the slightest pressure. Pretty sad commentary

This would probably be more productive to complain directly to BREC
City Park is best enjoyed without a cart anyways

Dirty carts are one thing, but broken pencils? The humanity!!!

Are you going to complain about the cost to play there too.
Next time walk.

BREC should be ashamed at how they're using tax payer funds. But they aren't since they tax the working class harder knowing that they're preoccupied with work and life to protest.

Course is a dump, waste of prime space on the lakes, and doesn’t come close to turning a profit. Should be axed

You’re an idiot. It provides affordable golf inside the city limits on a property that, due to its undulation couldn’t be used for anything else.

Defending city park but I’m the idiot
look internally bud. It provides affordable “golf” for hackers.
Easily could be this was a lazy and shitty take. “Undulation”
BREC loves misusing and wasting tax payer dollars, City Park’s a great example of that.

Dump….yes
Wasted space…..possibly
Doesn’t turn a profit?…..let’s see….
City Park 26,000 rounds last year at what….$20-$30/round. So possibly $700,000 in revenue. Plus what is ear marked in tax money for its budget.
You’re right that it’s wasted. But it’s a money maker.

Pretty confident a few years back the only two BREC courses turning a profit were Santa Maria and Beaver Creek. Not sure if that’s changed now with the influx of even more new golfers.
A Butler Pitch & Putt style short course coupled with other park features sounds like a much better use of $ and space imo.

I do agree a pitch and putt would be better but at what price point? Also you have to have a place for hackers to play. Gets them off the decent semi-private courses in the area especially with LSU soon to close.
