It’s not some crazy unreasonable business decision to accept $27M in 30 days plus no offset from new employment and give up $54M over five years that would be offset. If you plan to work and earn a few million dollars a year during that period you’d come out ahead taking the lump sum. I have no trouble believing his agent would advise him to do this.

Especially if skeletons are true.

Even if not, immediate lump sum invested wisely beats the long term pay out.

I’m not sure where you or anyone else is getting this $27 million number from. He hasn’t accepted any reduced buyout as of now. LSU is going to continue to pay him $800k per month until they agree to something else, whatever that may be. Legit question where did you see that number?

No, there’s a scenario where it’s a win-win for LSU and Kelly. 27, 25, 30 million, whatever. Waive the offset language. Pleasure doing business with you.

Skeletons and an offset clause become interesting because of mutually assured destruction.

Leak all my skeletons and then that’s the reason I can’t get another job and you owe me all the money. If you want to challenge that, let’s just subpoena everyone’s records and phones and burn it all down.
