Letting him hire another bad coaching fit for an absurd contract should not be permitted. If anything, he should be on the way out first so that LSU can put someone actually good at hiring football and men’s basketball coaches in place.

Look at this way

Jimbo was rolling at FSU

and Kelly was ND all time winningest coach

Let's not pretend these were not proven coaches

I will give Woodward a pass for now. He did hire Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey.

Jimbo was fading like a candle in a rain storm at FSU. He had two good seasons and both had Winston as his QB. Outside of that he was mediocre to bad and trending downward.

BK was what he was, but his history wasn’t a guy that couldn’t win a championship, it was a guy that couldn’t compete at all with the top teams.

In the end, the guy wasn’t the biggest issue, but the absurd contract was.

Two sports that are the easiest to win quickly in if you spend big money. 80% of programs if not more could care less about those two sports.

Women’s bball loses $8.5 million a year for one title.

Jay Johnson has been great, but less than 20 schools actually give a real damn about baseball to invest and maybe 5 are on LSU’s level.

Football and Men’s bball are an entirely different level.

What transpired between FSU-Fisher-A&M - not my circus; not my monkeys but Jimbo went 5-6 his last season (Y8) at FSU. Of course, BK's 4-8 in Y7 at ND was even more impressive.

At BK's age, we had no business giving him a 10Y contract. IMO, the BK hire appealed to SW because it was a big-splash hire that made him look good - 'hey, look. I just took a blue-blood's HC for my own.'

Someone’s emotionally intelligent. This is NOT on Woodward. You’re talking about a guy who has hired 2 championship coaches for Gods sake.

Fertilizer.

It's all on him. He has negotiated the demise of the two money-making sports at LSU.

Demote him to "small-sports assistant AD."

I’ll just ask this, and I have no idea cause I don’t have the pockets to move the needle money wise at LSU, but if you were a big booster, a top handful of people donor, after you’ve seen how this has played out, cut checks for the buyouts of all the failed assistants, cutting another big check for the buyouts of BK and getting ready to cut another huge check for the next coaching staff, would you still hand over a ton of money to Woodward to do it all over again?

I wouldn’t. But it doesn’t matter since I’m a simple peon.
