We do know Nancy Pelosi needed to end the original electoral vote count because there were going to be way to many objections. They adjourned and once re-opened a few hours later, no objections could be made.

Have you never seen footage of the doors being opened and people being ushered into the building? Are you aware that Grandmothers who remained outside were still arrested, charged, and sent to prison? How are you going to have an "insurrection" with no weapons?

They were concerned about ANTIFA launching counter protests and becoming violent. That was the stated reason. But it doesn't really matter why. Trump wanted 10,000 troops brought in and they refused to do so.
