This is crazy.
Came across this and can’t stop watching. This is an ultramarathon where you have to run 4 miles in one hour - every hour. If you don’t make the time - you are out of the race. Only break you get is the time you have left if you finish the course before the hour mark. They run until only one man is left.
They have been running since Saturday

These are becoming more common.
I signed up for one that was a lottery, but so did 10k other people. Didn't get picked.
I want to do one soon.
Most people set a goal. My goal would be 15 laps, anything more would be lagniappe. If you go with the hopes of winning you're just setting yourself up for failure. Some of these guys run for days on end like the one linked.
The fun in these would be to meet and be around other like minded people while pushing yourself.

I assume this is 4 miles every hour, 24 hours a day?
Geezum, you'd have to run no worse than say a 12 minute pace, just to give yourself a few minutes break every hour.
I am gonna assume these ones left are running at 5-6 minute paces and resting about 30 minutes an hour.

You’d have to have some deep and unresolved issues problems to run that.

Ultra runners, especially trail runners kind of fascinate me. I have no desire to do it myself, but that is just sheer will.

Yes.. 24 hours a day. There is 4 runners left right now and on lap 111
One guy almost didn’t finish the last lap in time. He made it with less than 15 seconds left. This is crazy !!

Yeah. Start watching at the bottom of the hour. It’s pretty entertaining

I think strategies are variable, but the main one, especially if you can knock out 4 miles at 5-6 mins, is to keep your HR in the 110s by running 9-10 min miles. A lot of these guys are incredibly fit to the point that running 4 miles at a 10 min/mile is like a walk to a normal person.
