Just rolled my 401k from a former employer into my Fidelity rollover IRA account and looking for advice on investment allocation.

Total amount available is $130k and I have another $18k in the account already which is 100% in Fidelity Freedom 2055 Fund. I am looking for low fee, “set it and forget it” funds to put the money in. What yall got?

If that target date fund met your needs why not put it there? Otherwise, not much point keeping just $18k of $148k in a target date fund. Your overall allocation wouldnt align w the strategy of the target fund defeating the purpose. Maybe find a lower expense ratio alternative is only other suggestion absent further context. You are paying .68% for active management versus .08% for Vanguard's passive managed 2055 fund VFFVX or Fidelity Freedom Index 2055 FDEWX 0.12%

Jordan, pretty sure we are the same age, if not very close. If this is something you won’t touch for ~30 years, why not go with an S&P 500 fund? Something like FXAIX (Fidelity 500 Index) that has a super low expense ratio (0.02%)

I did this over a year or more ago with a large chunk SCHG, it’s up 25% since then. Also bought AMZN and AVGO. I like to be aggressive though

This is my current thinking, but I wanted to ask here to make sure there isn’t a more preferable option. Appreciate the insight!

I’m 36, I think we’re close. I like that idea, this is absolutely something I will not be touching until retirement age.

Looking to keep this more conservative. I have another play account for individual stocks.

Edit: @ Walt, you’re in the finance/investment world now, correct?

I'd go 100% index funds if it were me. Fidelity 2055 has 15%/bonds/short term debt which seems conservative given long time horizon. I'd consider a US index and Intl for some diversification.
