The US is trying under Trump 2.0 to get its sovereignty back. If a nation has to rely on its adversaries for critical imports it's not truly a sovereign nation. The US needs to shore up its domestic manufacturing/industrial base to maintain it's place at the top of the superpower totem pole.

As a nation, yes. They should all pay tribute.

True. It's not powerful. It's just more powerful than any other nation in the world today.

You forgot the Brits and Great Khans. Held more land than Rome.
You forgot the power to kill humans.
That goes to DJT and the US/russia. We have more active and ready Nukes than anyone.
PS
Slaves
More are watching Elsbeth on CBS that were slaves in the peak of Rome

So weak that the world and domestic markets hang on Trump's every word.
OP trying too hard.

Great Britain at its peak colonized between 60 and 70 countries.
Of which IPA beer was the greatest result of the British Empire.
quote:
The number of countries Great Britain colonized is not definitive due to varying definitions of "colony," but estimates suggest that the British Empire at its peak included territories corresponding to around 60 to 70 now-independent countries, plus the 14 remaining British Overseas Territories. The extent of the empire was vast, covering land across every continent and ruling over a significant portion of the world's population.

I’m confused on the premise of this thread. Do you know the term, “mutually exclusive?”
Just because Rome was powerful in its day, doesn’t mean that other countries can’t be powerful today.
If the US wanted, it could have conquered most of Europe and Japan after WWII

Boots on the ground is in the far past. Nowadays it’s technology and control of oil, shipping goods. Cut of the food and energy to a place and watch them fold
