The offense looked much improved

I’ve been critical of the offense this year. I think they ran the ball well last night. Better than we have all season against a good defense. Nuss was incredibly effective getting us down the field. When he and the WRs were on the same page, we looked like we should.

I think the base is there. Things I’d like to see next week - Nuss not fricking us on the goalline or when we are driving down the field. Sloan calling a more consistent game (again, much improved). Kelly not turtling when he gets a lead.

My worry is that Nuss just can’t put it together all game. Prime examples would be bad read and trying to force a TD that cost us 7 points. Or seeing a holding penalty and equating it with an offsides and thinking he has a free play.

I have way more hope than I did 2 weeks ago. Still a shitshow of a performance as it relates to actually getting the ball across the goalline.

Take away the first two drives every game (scripted, vanilla) and Sloan got the O in position to score 34 last night.

That is on top of the bad O Line

Agreed 100%

I don't think we are suddenly good now. What I thought was going to be a dog fight with Vandy, I feel like if we can build on tonight, we should be able to win by a couple of scores. Hopefully that can build some momentum for a Top 10 night game in two week against A&M.

You roll into the Bye week 7-1 with a run game, we are in a really good spot.

That's my optimistic take.

Outside of Nuss making inaccurate throws and bone headed decisions it was an improvement

Would be helpful if Hilton could catch a perfect deep ball. We have no threat to stretch the field with the "fastest WR corps" in the country.

I am with you here. I saw enough to know the offense can do better. Just need to execute.

IF...they can execute better (dropped passes, RZ turnovers) the rest of the season could be very interesting and fun.

What the negatives see is the 20 pts. They don’t see the sustained drives that got LSU in position to score. So in their eyes the O still sucks and will let you know it.

Yeah, objectively, LSU moved the ball better. No doubt. Just converting that to points is still an issue.

The turnovers were the problem, gotta do something about those. But I was encouraged by the improved play.

Take away those two red zone turnovers and we’d all be feeling good about our offense today.
