Has anyone been to these, is it cheaper than nurseries around BR?

The prices are generally a bit better. Selection a bit more esoteric, lots of natives. a nice event to browse through

I went today. Trees for $30. Seem to be 1-2 feet shorter than trees at a nursery which cost at least $100. Definitely worth it for me.

got a bunch of good stuff at the Ag center plant sale in Hammond this morning. All natives and we didn’t pay over 5 bucks for anything…trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetables and houseplants

Highly recommend this one, it’s every year at this time and well worth it. Plus the grounds are beautiful

Never heard of that one. Been to the arboretum sale many times and bought pretty much everything I would ever want that is there.

I'll keep a lookout for the AG center sale in Hammond next year. Don't be afraid to post when it's coming up

I’ll let you know
it’s early October every year

got some very cool native perennials.
they also had sprouted cuttings from all the LSU figs developed there but they went quick. I’m going to go over there and take some cuttings once the trees are dormant and see if I can sprout them this winter

While they still have some living figgs at burden on Essen, the original site where their experimental orchards were grown, including many figs, persimmon citrus, pawpaw and others, they rooted cuttings and planted them at the Hammond station 5-10 years ago.

The ones still at burden don't seem to have had any interval care

It was done as part of an effort to make burden more of a money-generating public-access site, with some of the orchard removed for events like the Halloween hay bale maze
