what is the story here? It comes off as sounding like the Randle camp doesn't want to have to compete against Benton? Are they afraid that Benton is better? are there off the field issues btn the two? What's the story, b/c it seems very, very odd.

Maybe they both figured that they wanted to be the feature WR someday at their respective schools???

benton is the one that left. Seems to me benton knew randle would get more playing time so he left for auburn because he knew he would play there

Probably several different issues here....but bottom line is I hope both do well.

We gave Benton an opportunity to come here and he didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

Why should we gamble w/ losing both???

quite teh opposite. if Benton doesn't leave it sounds like we wouldn't have gotten Randle.

Did Benton pop randle in the butt with a wet towel when Benton was a senior at Bastrop?

wrong. sounds like we pulled his offer last second or urged him to go elsewhere in order to secure Randle.

who knows?? its a strange situation. I think the final decision was made by Les, i'm pretty sure he withdrew Benton's offer last night. He would much rather have Randle than Benton, and I don't blame him. Benton has grade issues and is eligible for the draft next year. One good year and Benton is gone. Randle is here for at least three years, and frankly, I think he's the better player. Benton is pretty damn good, but I'm curious to see how he'll regroup after not playing for over a year

And WHEN was he supposed to be eligible to play at LSU? 3 years ago......I'd say that's giving him plenty chance to come w/out this risk....

Can someone from Bastrop tell us if there was bad blood between the two for some reason? A girl? Playing time? I heard a long time ago that they were best friends, and it just seems odd that Randle would suddenly tell the coaches that he didn't want to play with DB considering DB has been trying to get into LSU for a while. I am interested to see news surfaces.

i think if it were certain Benton would qualify, the coaches probably wouldn't have made the choice they made...but they couldn't take a chance on Randle going elsewhere and Benton not showing up for the 5th semester in a row.

from what it sounds like from randle in the video both didn't need to be at lsu at the same time...someone wouldn't get playing time...if benton would have gone to lsu then randle would have went else where

I don't think they were ever best friends persay, just teammates and good enough friends. I think they realized the BEST situation for both was different schools, even though our top 2 receivers from this season would most likely be gone after this year. TT has a big year basically.
