Mostly good news, but I’ve got some lumbar issues that have flared up.

Started at 258 back in March. Down to 229 today. Goal is 185. VA doctor transitioned me over to Zepbound.
Lifting weights 4 days a week, with some cardio in the form of cycling. Trying to stay on top of protein intake.

Cut out all the pops and sweet teas. On a rare occasion like a family cookout I’ll have a Coke and that’s it. Rest of time water or Coke Zero.

Clothes are fitting great. Going down to 36 waist and able to fit in shirts and look good.

The bad news is I’ve herniated l4/5. I already had l5/s1 fused. I believe I overdid it on leg presses. Going to PT and working on upper body. Norton Leatherman Spine in Louisville is getting me in soon. The setback has bummed me out as I was seeing great gains and feeling good. Hope that PT and maybe a steroid shot into the spine will help with the pissed off nerve. Don’t want surgery again.

Congratulations!! That’s great progress and keep up the good work.
Figure out ways to lift and/or exercise with the physical issues

Yep, I’m using mostly machines right now and trying not to load my lumbar area. So no leg presses or hack squats

Great progress on the weight loss, man. Dropping from 258 to 229 is no small thing. Stay patient with the back rehab, you’ll get back on track.

Great job on the weight loss. When people get disc fusions it puts the joints above and below that fusion at a greater risk. Your spine still wants to move so the ROM lost with that fusion will be put into the joints above and below. A lot of people with joint fusions end up with these types of herniations, sorry that it happened to you.

I may get blasted for this, but I would stay away from the leg press if I was you. Since your seated with a heavy load, your spine can be compromised when lowering the weight by forcing a posterior pelvic tilt. Much safer to squat. Belt squats and other variations should be your friend.

Box squats are ok too, but you need to keep proper spinal alignment and not "roll" your hips when you sit on the box. If you can't keep proper spinal alignment then do not do box squats.

Hope this helps
